Two kanwarias die of snake bite

Two kanwarias (devotees of Lord Shiva) from Haryana today died of snake bite at Bhagwanpur area of Haridwar district, police said. Chetan (30) and Baljinder (35), both residents of Baghela village of Ambala district, were on way to Haridwar for taking Gangajal when the snake bit them, they said. On being informed, police reached the spot and admitted them in an unconscious state to a nearby hospital where they died.
Police said the snake was being carried in a bag and as soon as the bag was opened, the snake bit both of them. Kanwarias from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi visit Haridwar and other holy places in Uttarakhand every year to take Gangajal (water of river Ganga) back to their homes to offer it to Lord Shiva.
