Court rejects bail application of accused

Indicting the state government and police of patronising the accused, a local court today rejected the bail application of a former Lucknow CMO, arrested over alleged irregularities in the family welfare office here.

Rejecting the bail, Special Additional District and Sessions judge Rajendra Kumar said that despite an FIR being lodged against AK Shukla in the case on April 7, he was arrested only on July 12 while the other accused, deputy CMO YS Sachan was held soon after and this delay was not possible without the patronage of the state government and police.

The court observed that looking at the facts and circumstances of the case, accused Shukla is not liable to be released on bail.

The case was lodged on April 7 in the local Wazirganj police station after the murder of CMO BP Singh on April 2.
